Manatee Viewing in Vero Beach

With the winter still here, you have the opportunity to do some manatee viewing in Vero Beach. The amazing creatures aren’t always easy to find, nor are they always around the waterways. But in the winter, your chances of seeing a manatee are good. Find out where to go to see manatees in the colder weather.

Where to See Them

Manatees migrate along the Treasure Coast in the winter months. As they come through the area, they look for warm waters in spring-fed creeks. All year long, the creeks stay between 58 and 72 degrees. They are drawn to the warmth and the freshness of the springs.

Round Island Park

One place for you to view manatees is Round Island Park. Whether you walk the boardwalk or head to the observation tower, you have an excellent chance of finding one or many manatees. As an added benefit, the park has many amenities.

St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park

If you want to find manatees at this park, you should rent a bicycle and hit the trail. With more than 60 miles of trails, the park has plenty for you to explore. It’s common for people to have sightings of the West Indian manatee, as well as other wildlife.
